I frequently have fantasies about either making complex websites, applications, or even programming robots. But I often have an incredibly hard time learning to code without a specific and immediate goal. That's when I found Code Combat: they turned coding into puzzle challenges! I've been plowing through the Python coding platform, and concepts are starting to sink in. They offer a lot of free levels, but there's also a paid version that gives you even more levels. It will often try to trick you into thinking you've used up all of the free levels -- but there's honestly a lot you can still do, even after completing the entire first dungeon. They make the free levels a little less obvious, but it's there. It's a really fun game to play on the side, and progress comes quickly enough. For someone who's starting at "Kindergarten level of coding", it's been perfect for me. Code Combat!
